Would these flowers be good for my wedding?

i asked this in weddings and someone told me i should ask here as well so here goes :)

ever since we got engaged we've been talking of doing japanese irises for the wedding. my mom has been on my back about it ever since. she swears that they will look bad because they dont last long, but i know if we get them from a florist then she will most likely get them in bud form and then it will be about 2 days to bloom and will last about 3-4 days before wilting (we bought some from a florist for valentines and thats how we got them, so i'd assume the professionals would get the same).

anywho, do you think this will be an issue? our wedding is may 2, so they would be in season. my dress is accented with victorian lilac and the bridesmaids will be in that color as well (maybe a shade lighter, we havent decided yet). i REALLY wanted irises but now i'm terrified i'll have dead flowers.

if not, are there other dainty purple flowers like that? we figured we'd pair them with white roses

Would these flowers be good for my wedding?
Iris are used in bridal bouquets but work with a florist! And I'd also have other flowers in the bouquet. Do a google search (iris in wedding bouquets).....I suspect you'll come up with some pictures. You may have to settle for another type of iris ....but it's still a lovely, if not picky to work with flower.

Fresh flowers are lovely and traditional, but top quality silk might be an alternative. Actually whenever I'm asked to do a bouquet with stephanotis, I always have silk ones handy just in case since the real McCoys are soooo tender and difficult to work with.
Reply:Japanese Iris' would be exquisite with your dress and white roses. Why not also consider adding lilacs for color and scent? If you work with a reputable florist, they will know how to keep the blooms looking fresh. Go for what you love, it's your day!
