La Jolla or Santa Barbara? (Wedding location)?

We are not emotionally tied to either location, but we like the idea that both will be unspoiled %26amp; special to return too. We like to have our anniversary there annually or every few years. Also what a great idea to retire where you first were married. Suggestions of location, florist, church, backdrop etc... SMALL WEDDING.

La Jolla or Santa Barbara? (Wedding location)?
I used to live and work in San Diego (now on the east coast) and think La Jolla is a beautiful place to get married. Aside from La Jolla Cove, which is just GORGEOUS at sunsets, there are so many different things to do and see in San Diego, I think your overnight guests would appreciate such a "fun-filled" city.

Here are my recommendations on vendors:

Location - honestly, it depends on what you are looking for. I really like the Estancia Hotel or the Lodge at Torrey Pines. Of course, I love Marriotts, so the La Jolla Marriott is a nice venue.

Entertainment - Platinum Productions does a great job. They really keep everyone involved throughout the night!

Decorator - Concepts Party Rentals is a fabulous company. I've worked closely with the vendor for years and she's always created such amazing work! Beautiful backdrops, chair covers, lighting, etc.

Florist - Floral Works is very creative in their designs! Again, I've worked with the vendors for years and she never ceases to amaze me with her ideas.

Cake Company - Flour Power or Crumbs of Paris. Both are really great cake vendors.

Good luck choosing and best wishes on your wedding!

Reply:I am 15 and if u have a medium wedding go to Skytop Lodge in the poconos that place is amazing and its the most romantic place to ba nd its awsome just saying and they have alot of things just go online and look at it its all i ask!
Reply:Santa Barbara is so beautiful any time of year.
Reply:If you will have out of town guests, they may have a better time in San Diego (La Jolla), as there is more to do. But, I grew up in San Diego (now living on the east coast), so I may be a bit biased :)

I'm getting married at the Naval Base on Point Loma and using the following vendors:

Cake: Flour Power (my sister had this at her wedding 5 years ago and guests still remember how good the cake was)

Flowers: Jamul Flowers (I looked around at a bunch of places, even wholesale-but by going to this vendor I was able to cut my flower cost by 50%, and she makes the prettiest arrangements...wow! My family has been using her services for over 10 years, and no complaints whatsoever!)

Photos: Mark with "Unveiled Photography"- pricy, but very artistic in his work

Reception Idea: (I'm using this for my rehearsal lunch) Tom Ham's Lighthouse Restaurant (it's not in La Jolla, but you can't beat the view)

My mother is the oldest of 10 kids. (I'm now 42) I grew up In La Puente, about 20 or so miles east of L.A.

I spent alot of time during my childhood in Santa Barbara and alot during my adulthood. I have lived out of state since 1981, and every time I go back for a visit, I ALWAYS go to Santa Barbara, whether or not I visit family. It has stayed the same yet has improved too. I was just there this past March for my Grandmother's funeral and it was like coming home!!! It always feels that way. Even my grandma's funeral and reception was beautiful!!!!!!! (and lots of laughter. She wouldn't have had it any other way!!!!!!)

My Mom the oldest of 10, at least 22 grandchildren (I'm #3) and at last count 44+ great-grandchildren, you can imagine how many weddings I've helped plan and have been to. With that many people, you can imagine the various personality types, leading to various types of weddings and receptions in my family, not to mention friends' weddings and receptions!!

I may be biased because of my ties and strong history to Santa Barbara. I SAY SANTA BARBARA!!!!!!!!!

Lot's of places for your event, including plenty of churches if you so desire.

If I ever faced moving back to Cal. because I had to (or had no choice), I've said it for years. The only place I would live in is Santa Barbara!!!!!
Reply:Santa Barbara!
Reply:Cute place.
Reply:Santa Barbara - used to live there, really want to have my wedding there, but fiance doesn't like it that much. As far as places to get married, there is a small, clifftop park south of santa barbara between Montecito and Summerland that is free to use for weddings and is BEAUTIFUL and cheap to reserve for day use. It's name is Lookout Park and here is a link to the SB County Parks Website where you can reserve it.

Another good idea that would be affordable is the Music Academy of the West

And here's a list of a lot of sites.
