How much for flowers?

How much did you spend or are you planning to spend on flowers for your wedding? I am only looking for bouquets, corisage, boutinners and 26 very tiny arrangements with only 3 flowers in each. We are making the main centerpieces ourselves to cut back on cost.

My sister paid $550 for her bouquets, corisages and such so I figured that with the extra arragments I could expect to pay around $850. Every single quote (I have received 5) has come in over $1,500. Her florist is booked or else I would use her. Just wondering what is the norm.... I have no idea what a good price is.

And the wedding is in Pittsburgh, PA so I expected the prices to be cheaper.

How much for flowers?
I paid 520.00 for my flowers (including shipping). I ordered from a company online, www.freshroses.com. I ordered 500 premium (long stem), gorgeous Black Magic roses; my sister and I arranged them ourselves. This was enough flowers for everything. If you are making the centerpieces, you are obviously creative enough to handle the task yourself, along with a sister or friend or two... freshroses.com is a wonderful company, their customer service is great, and their website is very friendly to wedding customers. There is a whole section devoted to ordering wedding flowers; including how-to and how much to order. They offer a huge variety of flowers (not just roses) as well as greens. You should really check them out, it worked out great for me. They are a wholesaler and their prices are much cheaper. I was being quoted at well over 1000.00 (some as high as 2000.00) for the same thing from local florists, and that was just for the flowers- no arranging.
Reply:Go to fiftyflowers.com they have amazing prices on every flower, and they have bridal packages for cheap.

Depending on what kind of flowers you want you can get em pretty cheap. Also you have to make them yourself, figure 24 flowers for your bouquet, and 12 for each bridesmaid, 1 to 2 per bout and corsage probably 1 to 2 and then the the 26 arrangements with 2 flowers.

So for say 3 bridesmaids, 3 groomsment, bridal bouquet and 2 mother corsges and 2 father bouts max is probably 300 flowers. Including your center pieces.

so for 300 flowers, black magic roses, long and medium stemmed, it is about $430 free overnight shipping, and get some ribbon together, so maybe another 20 in ribbon. A little bit of time and maybe get some type of greens to add color.

I only used the red roses as example because that is what my flower is.
Reply:It depends on what flowers you are using and what time of year you are planning the wedding for. Remember that round holidays flower prices then to skyrocket, esp. Valentines and Mother's Day.

Have you considered buying wholesale flowers online? since you are only looking to do three flowers in each arrangement you should be able to easily put them together yourself.

Otherwise, let the people you have gotten quotes from know what your budget is. Be honest with them. Discounted business is better than no bussines and they may be willing to work with you. You should also be open to substitutions the florist suggests, for instance instead of orchids consider snapdragons which look similar but cost much less.
Reply:i got a quote for $500 for my bouquet, 3 bridesmaids, 4 groom/groomsmen, 5 corsages, 5 extra boots, and 3 huge arrangements for the church
Reply:As a consultant, i have used budgets for every wedding. Decide what your total limit is on how much you are spending on the entire wedding. The flowers (bouquets, coursages, centerpiece, and the decor.) should only be about 10% of your entire budget. Be careful, if you aren't the budget will run a lot more than that.
Reply:are you using silks or real? Silks are cheaper and can be great keepsakes. Check out this site for silks and save a lot. Best Wishes.
Reply:We spent about $1,500 for everything (bouquets, butonears (sorry I dont know how to spell it an I am so of speck check cant figure it out), corsages, unity candle piece, decor for the church and reception site).
Reply:Bouquets are normally $100-150 each for bridal.

$35-50 each for bridesmaids.

$8-10 each for boutonierres.

$12-18 each for corsages.

Table centerpieces range anywhere from $15- up. For something small like you are talking about they should be about $20 each, but it may depend on the type of flowers you are using.

26 arrangements at $20 each is $520. That is before tax and labor! I don't know what your retail tax is there, but florist labor is typically 30% of the total before tax, and then that is all taxed.

Using 9% sales tax which is what it is here, I got $1352 for your total. So, your estimates are really not that far off.

I really think the problem is how many of these little centerpieces you are having. Try this instead: Have those on like 12-13 tables, and then just candles, petals, and crystal type rocks at the others. It is totally fine and very pretty to have some that are different! It gives the room some depth! You can find the candles, silk petals and rocks at the dollar store or craft store for almost nothing! If you did this, it would bring your cost down about $250.
