When should I book a florist?

I have a June 07 wedding and am wondering when should I start contacting a flower company? Anything special I should ask them when I do contact them?

I would contact them soon and try to set up a meeting. I would take along any pictures or ideas you have so they know exactly what you want. Always double check costs for both the flowers and delivery. Also, make sure the delivery dates/times are correct.

Reply:I would book now... the longer you wait the more money you are going to have to spend... first ask them what is going to be in season, then go from there... im sure you have an idea in your head of what you want... draw it out on paper take it in, then most likely they can help you from there... don't settle on something , if you don't like it , tell them.
Reply:I would start looking right now. Make some appointments at a variety of places and start looking at flowers and prices. When you contact them, they don't need any info right now except for your wedding date.

With my first marriage, I waited too long to call the florist and photographer for the date we were thinking of, so it had to be changed to three months later!
Reply:I would go ahead and find someone you want to work with NOW. Think about it, alot of people are going to be getting engaged during the Christmas/New Year's holiday, and a bunch of them are going to think about getting married next summer. The sooner you book someone, especially for a month like June (which is a busy month in the wedding business), the more likely you'll have those suppliers you want to do business with. I would book florists, djs, reception halls, even the catering and cake now, or by the first of the year. You can iron out fine details after you've got them comitted to your date. Reply:As soon as possible. Do some internet research before you go. So you know what they are talking about. There are different styles of bouquets. Take pics of the ones you like. Wedding planners are a must! Ask to see pics of wedding flowers that the florists have done. Samples also. Take swatches of your colors..very important.
Reply:Meet with a florist now that your not enitrely interested in and one you know will be cheap. Take that price quote to the florist you really want and they'll be eager to beat it.





Also, most higher end florists may say it's too early to meet with them. Tell them you have other appointments and they'll change their tune.





Either way, you need to book now.

June is a lovely time to get married there will be lots of beautiful seasonal flowers available to choose from.





I would suggest contacting 2 or 3 florists - first of all check they are available for your date then visit them to find out prices and also that they will be professional and easy to talk with.





Book your favourite one as soon as possible, you don't have to order your flowers right away but can do this two to three months ahead once you have confirmed numbers for buttonholes and know what arrangements that you may need.

Try to think of a few ideas of flowers that you might want, as you may find that your favorite flower is out of season and might cost a fortune to get. Have an idea of a budget, and see if this florist will meet it.





If you like them, you can go ahead and book them. Give them an idea of what you'll need: bridal bouquet, bride's bouquet to toss at the reception, corsages (parents, grandparents, groom, groomsman, etc), bridesmaids bouquets.





Also, ask your reception venue if they have Recommended Vendors that they might offer. It helps to know that your florist knows your venue and the people that work at it.

Reply:Yesterday, your wedding is only 6 months away you need to book a florist right away. You should go sit down with one and look at picture of past weddings uless you know exactly what you want. You want to make sure that they do good work. You want to know how their delievery system works. Does it cost extra. You need to look at their boquets. You have lots to do.... Don't wait good florists book up almost a year in advance.... I booked mine in august and Im getting married in may. Thats 9 months. GL

Reply:buty a bridal magazine itll tell you how far in advance to plan everything. make sure its a really thick one those are the best.
Reply:You might want to contact them now. You might want to ask what flowers are in season at the time of your wedding. If there is a certain flower you must have, and it's not in season expect a pretty big expense for the flowers. And they can also give you suggestions for your centerpieces and bouquets.
