My wedding is in a year. How soon do I meet with the photog/ florist/ DJ/ limo company?

And when do I book each one? Thanks!

My wedding is in a year. How soon do I meet with the photog/ florist/ DJ/ limo company?
Here is my thought - - it is never too soon so that you ensure you get the DJ, Florist, Photographer, etc. that is your first choice.

I am actually putting deposits down now and my wedding is about a year and a half away.

I did have a bakery tell me to come back in 6 months when it was about a year ahead of time. But otherwise, everyone else has been very happy to get my deposits and sign the contracts!

For me, it is peace of mind that I have the people I want reserved for "our day".

And where I am from (NY Metro area), it is not uncommon to be planning 1.5 to 2 years in advance to get a place.
Reply:Photographers and florists book up fast, especially if they are popular. You may have to get on the list about a year before your date. Dj can be booked around the 6 month mark, but if they are popular you may want to book them as soon as you find one you love. The limo can be booked last minute. Either way, start shopping around asap.
Reply:it's never too early to book. 1 year goes by fast, and once you've solidified your date, you can get busy. It's nice to get all that out of the way, and meet with each one. Takes some of the stress off!!
Reply:do it now, they book up fast. You may not have the one you want if you don't do it asap. Look around for a couple of weeks to make sure you have the one you want and then book them.
Reply:The best thing to do is call around and get prices and then choose who you would like to DJ...CATER etc... and then ask them how long in advanced you should book them.
Reply:you can start booking things now.. but wait till about 6-4 months befor the wedding for the limo
Reply:Get as much done now as possible. The only thing you want to do the last month is confirm with all the various contractors you need to have a wedding reception. You will have enough on your mind.

Plus the good ones get booked early.
Reply:It depends on where you live. I live in Chicago and booked my reception venue 16 months in advance, photog 14 months in advance, the DJ a year in advance, the florist 7 months in advance and the limo company is going to be 4 months in advance. Get started now because the good ones get booked fast.
Reply:If you live in a big city get busy right now. Some places book two years ahead!
Reply:i work for a photographer and he always tell me that he has people 2 years in advancd booked so i guess right away book photo same with the dj but i hope you have a hall befor all of that :) ...not to sure about the limo though sorry
Reply:The venue, photographer, cake, music, and florist are some of the big things you need to take care of as soon as possible.

I got engaged last June and am getting married this June.

We booked the venue last july, not even a month of being engaged had passed and our date was already booked, we had to book the following week. Next we did photographer the next month.

After that I would suggest you do music, cake, food and flowers.

And if yours is in a year I am guessing you are around the April range? April-June is a REALLY popular time to get married, after that I think September is busy.

Since I am getting married in June, the most popular month of all I have to think ahead on EVERYTHING.....By the time October hit, I already had my venue, photographer, and dress booked/ordered.

You gotta be on your toes. Congrats!
Reply:If you book them over a year in advnace they give a better price. This will also makes sure that you get how you want.
