I will be getting married on 26 of Aug and I am planning on buying my flowers through Costco. The women who takes care of that deptment is independent so her flowers are her business and she will order any flowers I need for my wedding. Boy, she has some beautiful flowers and will cost me less than a floral shop.
If you are good at arranging or someone you know, I would say go for the Costco flowers and save you some money because God knows wedding arent cheap.
Would you recommend Costco's wedding flower service over a custom florist for your big day?
I think it depends. I bought Costco's flower before, they were nice and fresh for a good period of time. If they have what you are looking for plus in a cheaper price, why not. Also, have you check out other places that sells wholesale flowers? If you like to arrange flowers and decorate them by yourself, that's another choice :)

Reply:Definately. We used Costco flowers for my sister's wedding a couple years ago, we bought all the flowers we needed, even for the boutineers, and my mom's friend made all the floral arrangements, bouquets and boutineers for free! It saved a TON of money, and they are good quality flowers.
Reply:well, it would depend on what you are wanting to do for your flowers. generally supermarkets can save you money on your flowers...but if your looking for very detailed or large arrangements I'd go to a florist or even see if there is a floral design school near you, sometimes you can get students (w/ teachers supervision) to make them for you. but if you are doing just simple bouquets (roses tied w/ ribbons etc) and simple bouts I'd definitely go w/ them. or even other supermarkets near you. and if you are looking for pretty and simple centerpieces, roses in a vase work wonders and you can order them thru them as well. just research.
Reply:Everything I've ever done with Costco has been top notch, first quality. Their flowers in the warehouse are great, so I'd go on the assumption that using them to wholesale flowers for a wedding would be great as well. Just make sure you have the crafty person who can transform the boxes of flowers you'll receive into bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, and centerpieces. Best of luck to you!
p.s. their cakes are also very yummy, great for your shower, or, have a smaller tiered cake (for showing) and have some Costco cakes in the back for serving and eating.

Reply:I would never trust a chain/discount store to provide flowers for my wedding. That is not their specialty. They are just trying to supplement their revenue by offering something new; they are not experts in it.

How long do you need to give notice to the florist about a wedding bouquet?
I called in yesterday with my request because my wedding is in two weeks exactly and I thought that would be enough time to get the bouquet together, simple soft pink and bright pink roses, she got all snotty with me, saying all of her roses are going our for valentines’ day and mine would have to be ordered because I want special colors, I said that's fine because it's not for two weeks.
she told me to call back after valentines day the 15, so we can order them and said that ordering them now would be counter productive…now I know what that means, but…does that apply in my case?
How is that counter productive to have an order placed and pay upfront? My wedding is on the 22, if i call on the 15th, is that enough time for her to make this arrangement, or should I call a different florist?

I had my bouquets made in three hours by a really nice florist, it just depends on the florist, call around and don't let these rude people ruin your special day.

People need to have enough notice because she may be doing someone else's wedding that was booked in advance. It's incredibly rude to expect someone to work on a time limit such as yours and it's proper to give them at least a month's notice. I would call several places and ask them if they have a schedule open for your special needs. You can offer to pay upfront, which is a good idea since your wedding day is fast approaching and would be more convenient to a person working in your time frame.

I am getting married in Corpus Christi, TX in January. We already have the ceremony and reception sites as well as the caterer. Now we need to find a bakery, florist, and dj. We are looking for good, but not too expensive when it comes to the cost. But we are open to any suggestions. Please help.

For my flowers, I found pictures out of a magazine and websites of what I wanted my bouquets to look like and I had the florist duplicate them. Price the florist and then go from there. They are all pretty similar in their abilities and ask to see a sample book or for referrals and check around.
The process is easy but time consuming. It is worth it in the end. My favorite planning tool was the Bliss Weddings Wedding Planner (website below) because it gave me checklists to ask our vendors to narrow the field for who could give us the best quality at a reasonable price.

I got married in the Dallas area, so I don't know of any vendors locally, but what really helped me was asking the vendors I did have for advice on others to use. That is how I found my photographer, florist, bakery, and travel agent for the honeymoon. They work together a lot so they can tell you who is good, bad and ugly.
Also, theknot.com was helpful and I don't know if they have them here, but bridal shows are great!

If you really like that sparkly one, you should look into making it yourself. I know you can do something like that for cheaper and that one will arrive shipped and possibly smashed, require just as much work to reshape it as to make one yourself.
However, depending on your colours, I'd personally go for a really dense big cluster of red berries (like cranberries). You could even do something fun with very fancy ribbons that looks like a bouqet. I even read somewhere about doing a candy or cookie bouquet (all the kids will want to catch that one!). You can also do something with crystal or glass flowers, origami, a fur muff since its a winter wedding, a horseshoe for luck or lantern if its a rustic setting.
If you're religious you could carry a rosary or a bible/prayer book.
If the venue allows it , you could carry a single candle with a ribbon etc (with a glass shield). You could use it in a unity candle ceremony if you're into that.
You could also carry something that means something to you, your family or your future husband. If you are really into wine maybe something with grapes?
